Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Promotion Initiatives

Fostering Corporate Culture Through Dialogue

Taiyo Nippon Sanso made its "D&I Declaration" both internally and externally in July 2024. We have also formulated a "D&I Action Plan" through FYE2030 and are actively working to promote diversity and inclusion.
First, we are implementing various initiatives aimed at fostering a corporate culture that embraces diverse work styles and human resources while respecting one another. In FYE2025, we conducted town hall meetings (dialogue sessions between management and employees) at seven business locations nationwide to promote understanding of the necessity of D&I advancement. These town hall meetings were attended by the president, HR director, and D&I promotion office director every time, engaging in direct dialogue with employees to address questions about D&I promotion and enhance understanding. Approximately 700 employees participated, and as a venue where they could directly hear from executive leadership, there were many questions and it became a vibrant forum.
Moving forward, we will continue to promote D&I while leveraging employee voices, aiming for the understanding that "diversity is natural and valuable."

Fostering Corporate Culture Through Unconscious Bias Awareness

In promoting diversity, Taiyo Nippon Sanso recognizes that unconscious bias (such as gender role perceptions and biases regarding age and experience) can be a barrier to D&I advancement, and we are implementing unconscious bias awareness activities.
In FYE2025, we conducted lectures for all employees and e-learning/workshops targeting management positions, creating opportunities to consider unconscious biases that exist around us. This has made "unconscious bias" a common language within the company, creating opportunities for conversations about unconscious bias in the workplace. We will continue awareness activities through training and other means to eliminate the negative impact of unconscious bias and aim to foster a culture where diverse human resources can thrive.

Initiatives to Strengthen Female Leader Development

Aiming for diversity in management positions, Taiyo Nippon Sanso launched "Career Design Training" in FYE2025 to strengthen female leader development, targeting female management candidates. This serves not only as an opportunity for participants to engage with their own careers, but also enables supervisors to receive supervisor-specific training to achieve mentoring and development of their female subordinates.
The training included programs for both women and supervisors separately, as well as joint programs, providing a venue for learning together and engaging in mutual dialogue.
Supervisors provided feedback such as: "By understanding women's unique life events and physical changes, as well as characteristics like imposter syndrome that tend to be seen in women, it served as a reference for providing guidance tailored to individual characteristics." and "This knowledge set can be utilized in subordinate guidance regardless of gender and became a catalyst for increased dialogue with subordinates."
