On October 1, 2004, the former Nippon Sanso Co., Ltd. merged with former Taiyo Toyo Sanso Co., Ltd. and changed the company name to Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corporation (a separate company from the domestic gas business company that was established on October 1, 2020).

The industrial gas supplier Dalian Changxing Island Taiyo Nippon Sanso Gas Co., Ltd. was established and a cutting-edge air separation unit built in the Dalian Changxing Island harbor-front industrial area in China.

Acquisition of Leeden Limited in Singapore

The company acquired Leeden Limited, an industrial gas and welding equipment manufacturer in Singapore (three consolidated subsidiaries developed in Singapore were subsequently integrated in 2014 and the business name was changed to the current Leeden National Oxygen Ltd.).

Release of Hydro Shuttle package-type hydrogen refueling station in Japan

The company began selling the Hydro Shuttle mobile package-type hydrogen station for vehicles powered by fuel-cell batteries that use hydrogen, which is expected to become a source of environmentally friendly clean energy.

2014

Shift to a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corporation

The takeover bid for the company's stock by Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corporation (currently Mitsubishi Chemical Group Corporation) came into effect, and it became a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corporation.

Acquisition of Continental Carbonic Products, Inc. in the US

To enhance its industrial gas business in the US, the company acquired one of the leading carbon dioxide suppliers in the US, Continental Carbonic Products, Inc., to strengthen its product lineup.

2015

Acquisition of Renegade Gas Pty Ltd in Australia

With the aim of expanding its business zones, the company acquired the industrial gas distributor Renegade Gas Pty Ltd to enter the industrial gas market in Australia and Oceania (this company was later integrated with a consolidated subsidiary setting up the business in Australia, and the business name was changed to the current Supagas Pty Ltd in 2018).

2016

Acquisition of part of industrial gas business and related assets in the US from French industrial gas supplier Air Liquide S.A.

Upon acquisition of the competitive supplier Airgas in the US by Air Liquide, we acquired part of Air Liquide’s industrial gas business in the US and its related assets, which were to be sold based on a directive from the US authorities. We thereby acquired supply sites in the Middle West and East, and constructed a supply network in major industrial zones in the US.

2018

Acquisition of part of European industrial gas business of Praxair, Inc., an US industrial gas supplier

Upon acquisition of Praxair, Inc. by Linde, an industrial gas supplier in Germany, we acquired part of Praxair’s industrial gas business in Europe (12 countries), which were to be sold based on a directive from the European authorities. We thereby established a global tetrapolar framework, adding Asia and Oceania to Japan, the US, and Europe.

Establishment of the TNSC Technical Academy in Japan

The company established the TNSC Technical Academy in Kawasaki, Kanagawa to increase awareness about the inherent risks in handling high-pressure gases (various accidents and problems occur in the field) and enhance security education.

Change of its trade name to Nippon Sanso Holdings Corporation on transition to a holding company

On October 1, the company framework transitioned to a holding company framework, and Nippon Sanso Holdings Corporation was established to transfer the domestic gas business to a newly-established company. The "Taiyo Nippon Sanso" business name was inherited by an operating company in Japan.
